On Thursday, March 2nd the School Board was presented with athletes and scholars form North DeSoto High. The room was overflowing with eager supporters awaiting the good news.
North DeSoto had much to celebrate starting with the High School’s wrestling team. They were Division 2 State Runner Up. They also were the Northwest Region Champions. The school was represented with the largest number of students that made the 1st All Regional Team.
Additionally, Coach Dustin Burton was named Regional Coach of the Year. Dalton Compton and Lake Bates were presented with certificates by Superintendent Clay Corley.
North DeSoto also received non-athletic accolades. Stephanie Mason introduced STEM scientists Valerie Tlatenchi and MacKenzie Mathews. These girls presented why they are involved with robotics.
This scientific venture will help the girls advance in their careers later. MacKenzie wants to code, and Valerie wants to be a mechanical engineer. Their school team took 2nd place in NSU Robotics competition, and they are preparing for VEX robotics competition.
