Venita Mae Busher passed away late Tuesday evening, May 9, 2023 at the age of 83, loving wife of 52 years to John “J. B.” Busher who predeceased her. She is survived by her three children, Sharon Hinkley (wife of Keith) of Belle Chasse, LA, Jeffery Busher (husband of Dusty) of Pelion, SC and Mark Busher (husband of Margo) of Surprise, AZ. She was grandmother to eight grandchildren, Whit and Jody Hinkley, Bradley and Brittney Busher, Korie Kelly and Chelsy Toups, MaKenna and Laken Busher and four great grandchildren, Addison and Cason Busher and Kate and Colin Hinkley. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and friends and affectionately known to most as “Nita”.
After raising her family, her talent at baking led her to run her own business, Nita’s Sweet Shop. Many will remember her infamous brownies and beautifully decorated cakes. During her time at Ida’s Dress Shop, numerous ladies would request her specifically for their wardrobe assistance. She retired from the Louisiana Department of Children & Family Services for DeSoto Parish located in Mansfield, LA where she was a valued employee. She enjoyed her time with Silver Threads, competing alongside her husband, to win medals at the Senior Olympics.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Maire Silver Assisted Living Facility for all the love and support they gave Mama Venita as they called her.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 20th from 9:00 to 11:00 AM with services to follow at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, LA. Interment will be at the Mansfield Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to Silver Threads of Southside Baptist Church 7329 Hwy 509, Mansfield, LA 71052, or the American Cancer Society is appreciated.
