Eli Smith, son of Jason and Katy Smith, competed in the Silhouette National Championship in Ridgway. Pennsylvania the last week of July.

This is one of the biggest competitions of silhouettes with competitors from across the United States and countries such as Canada, Finland, and Mexico.

Eli represented DeSoto Parish well. During the three-day competition, Smith competed in the AAA class and won first place in standard and third place in hunter rifle on the first day. He ended the first day with High Intermediate Junior for standard rifle.

By the end of the three days, Smith finished 8th overall in the standard AAA class and 7th in the hunter AAA class. He was able to bring home a bit of prize money with an 8th-place aggregate for his class.

Smith is looking forward to competing again as competitions begin for the year. He reportedly tried his hand at high power and is said to enjoy it as well.
