Authorities are conducting an active manhunt near I-49, just south of Highway 84 and close to LA 510, following a traffic stop where the suspect fled on foot.

The suspect, identified as Demontay Watkins, a 25-year-old Black male from Tangipahoa Parish, is described as shoeless, wearing black jeans, and initially seen in an orange hoodie, which he may have discarded. Watkins is a wanted fugitive from another parish and is considered armed and dangerous.

Local residents are urged to stay vigilant and report any sightings. Those with deer cameras in the area are encouraged to check for potential footage of the suspect. Drivers in the vicinity are advised to exercise caution, as law enforcement, K9 units, and drones are actively involved in the search.
