Mansfield Police Chief Gary Hobbs has announced the promotion of Officer Brittney Byrd to Detective Brittney Byrd, recognizing her professionalism, dedication, and commitment to serving the citizens of Mansfield.
Detective Byrd joined the Mansfield Police Department on Dec. 11, 2023, as a POST-certified police officer. According to the department, she has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to public service, using every challenge as an opportunity to learn, grow, and become a better officer.
Over the past year, Byrd has pursued specialized training to prepare for a career in investigations while continuing to expand her professional knowledge. She is also attending the University of Louisiana at Monroe, where she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
The department said Detective Byrd has consistently displayed a strong work ethic by working overtime, assisting with complex investigations that resulted in successful outcomes, and supporting fellow officers whenever needed.
Beyond her patrol and investigative responsibilities, Byrd has also contributed to the department’s public outreach efforts. She manages the Mansfield Police Department’s Facebook page, keeping the community informed about important events and public safety information. She also developed and implemented the department’s online pre-employment application, making it easier for prospective applicants to begin the hiring process.
Department officials said Detective Byrd has proven herself to be dependable, professional, and committed to serving both the department and the community with integrity. Her work ethic, leadership, and dedication have earned the respect of her peers and supervisors.
