The DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office is reminding the public that three Safety Exchange Zones are available throughout the parish to provide safer, convenient locations for important meet-ups and exchanges.
Specific parking spaces are designated as Safety Exchange Zones at the DPSO Main Office in Mansfield, the Logansport Substation and the Stonewall Substation.
According to DPSO, the areas are appropriate for child custody exchanges, online buyer and seller meet-ups, and other situations where safety may be a concern.
The Safety Exchange Zones are monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week through live video surveillance by the DPSO 911 Communications Center.
Those planning to use one of the zones are encouraged to call the 911 Communications Center ahead of time at 318-872-3956 and provide a dispatcher with the date and time of the planned exchange. If needed, deputies can be dispatched quickly.
The Sheriff’s Office said the monitored locations are intended to provide additional peace of mind for residents who need a public location to conduct an exchange.
“The right place. The right choice. Your safety is our priority,” the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office stated.
