Burn ban lifted in DeSoto Parish effective immediately

DESOTO PARISH, La. – The DeSoto Parish Police Jury has announced that the parishwide burn ban has been lifted, effective immediately.

According to Parish Administrator Michael Norton, the decision was made following consultation with the President of the DeSoto Parish Police Jury and local fire chiefs.

The announcement means the parishwide restriction on outdoor burning is no longer in effect, allowing residents to resume permissible outdoor burning activities, provided they comply with applicable state and local regulations.

Although the burn ban has been lifted, residents are encouraged to continue exercising caution when burning outdoors. Fires should be closely monitored, kept away from structures and combustible materials, and completely extinguished before being left unattended.

Residents should also remain mindful of changing weather conditions, particularly dry vegetation and strong winds, which can increase the risk of fires spreading.

The DeSoto Parish Police Jury encourages residents to practice responsible outdoor burning to help protect property, neighboring communities and emergency personnel.

The announcement takes effect immediately and applies throughout DeSoto Parish.
