Citing inadequate rainfall in the recent past, the DeSoto Parish Police Jury has issued a burn ban parish wide.  Police Jury President Ernel Jones made the declaration on Wednesday.

See the proclamation below.  A state of emergency was declared for the parish banning all outdoor burning in the parish until further notice.

Meanwhile at least one other northwest Louisiana parish has issued a burn ban and others are evaluating their situation.
