Mansfield Lions Club Gets Financial Outlook

By Van Reech

The regularly scheduled meeting Of the Mansfield Lions Club on 2/08/22 at the Clista A. Calhoun Center was held at noon.  Club President Van Reech discussed ways the Club could coordinate with other area Clubs and with individuals to spark enthusiasm on fundraisers and public service projects.  Organizations like Make Mansfield Beautiful and Mansfield In Motion were suggested.

The members discussed a community project of trash pickup on Hwy. 84 in front of the First Baptist Church from the Middle School to Super 8 Motel.  Captain Phillip Daniels thinks he can get the Sheriff’s Department to help and agrees that it will be good positive publicity for all of us and for our town and parish.

The speaker was fellow Lion, Jamie Rollins, one of our local Edward D. Jones Managers and one of the Clubs most liked members.  Jamie always has a big smile for everyone and quick with a laugh but he thoroughly engaged us with his knowledge of and suggestions for protecting our assets from inflation and taxes.  He had some sobering predictions for the rest of the year but ended with hope and the possibility of an uplifting forecast.

Interestingly he told us he got start in the investment business serving as a waiter who was single and was able to save a little money.  He invested that in stocks and after going to college and receiving a master’s degree started with Edward D. Jones.  Those interested in contacting Jamie call 318-464-2076 or stop by his office at 117 Jefferson St. right here in Mansfield.

Our next scheduled meeting is 2/22/22 at noon in the Clista A. Calhoun Center.  We serve a great lunch and always have something interesting to talk about so mark your calendar!
