North DeSoto Baseball advances by sweeping the best of three series with Northwood last Thursday and Friday. Now it is on to Sulphur for the semifinals this week.
On Thursday the Griffins won a thriller 11-10 after 12 innings of ball. It was intense to say the least – definitely championship road environment. The boys played well and battled. The crowd that followed the Griffins to Northwood was huge and extremely engaged in supporting the kids.
On Friday, The Griffins screamed to victory in a mercy-rule shortened game. North DeSoto trounced Northwood 14 to 1 in five innings. That set up North DeSoto’s trip to the state semifinals.
The semifinal game is single elimination. #5 North DeSoto will face the state’s number one team in 4A, North Vermillion. First pitch at 2:00 pm Thursday, May 12th at McMurry Park in Sulphur. The winner of that game will advance to the state championship game next Saturday.
