On the first day of qualifying in the races for seats on the DeSoto School Board, two candidates qualified to represent District 4.  Incumbent Donnie Dufour is being challenged by Xavier Foster.

There is only one qualifier for the other 10 seats on the school board.  Qualifiers are:

District 1 – Dudley Glenn

District 2 – Neil Henderson

District 3 – Jeffrey Dillard

District 5 – Alice Hamilton Thomas

District 6 – Coday Johnston

District 7 – Dale Morvan

District 8 – L. Mark Ross

District 9 – Ronnie Morris, Sr.

District 10 – Bobby Boyd

District 11 – Rosie Mae Mayweather

Other races in the parish:

Mayor of Keachi – Travis Whitfield

Mayor of Grand Cane – Marsha Richardson

Aldermen Grand Cane – Ed Campbell

Councilmen of Keachi – Jeanette Pons Avila, William Chad Burford, and Patty Russell

Qualifying continues through Friday at the Clerk of Court’s Office.
