Please join Patterson Purvis Mortuary in congratulating our own Rosalind Patterson Nelson, on becoming a Mattie Brewer McCulloch 50 Over 50 Award recipient. Here is a brief bio of our own.
She has been a licensed Embalmer & Funeral Director with the state of Louisiana for 30-plus years. Following in the steps of her father, The late Leroy Patterson, she was reared and groomed to take over the funeral industry, which at that time, few women thrived in. Leroy Patterson saw different things for his eldest daughter and knew she could maintain professionalism and superior service in this industry. After receiving her credentials, she managed more than one Patterson Funeral Home location and later became the Manager of Winnfield Funeral Home. Rosalind was the Clinical Director and Interim Director for the Funeral Service Program at SUSLA. Many of the funeral professionals here in Shreveport have come up under her tutelage in some form through the program at Southern. After the death of her husband in 2009 and then her mother in 2011, Rosalind went on to establish GEP Property Management & Development and opened Patterson Purvis Mortuary (Mansfield, La) in 2016. She is the Owner & Operator of PPM and works alongside her family to bring “superior services at affordable rates” to Caddo, Sabine, DeSoto, Natchitoches & surrounding Parishes.
She is a Silver Star Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc, and she has served on several prestigious boards & committees throughout her professional career. Currently, she is spiritually fed at Praise Temple Full Gospel under Bishop Brandon, where she serves on the Women of Praise committee.
She accepted her Mattie Brewer McCulloch 50 Over 50 award at the Black Tie Gala on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at 5:00 pm.
