False Alarm at NDHS

Thursday afternoon at 3:09 pm DeSoto Parish Sheriff communications received a 911 call from an individual advising she received a call from her child stating there were shots being fired at the school. Initial information indicated the North DeSoto campus. Deputies arrived on scene within one minute of the call. 14 units including two Louisiana State Troopers were actively clearing the campus in under 5 minutes with other units arriving shortly after.

It was determined fairly quickly that this was a false alarm.  When information comes into our office that even suggests there may be danger at one of our schools, we respond immediately and ask questions later.  Fortunately, this was a false alarm that led to many units responding to the location.

As this was happening further information revealed that  Northwood High School was possibly involved. Caddo Sheriff’s Office was advised and responded. The caller is cooperating with Caddo authorities to determine the source of information they received.
