North DeSoto Upper Elementary celebrates AR goal with goat-washing reward

Students at North DeSoto Upper Elementary received an unforgettable reward after successfully meeting their Accelerated Reader (AR) goals — watching their principals wash goats in front of a cheering crowd of students.

The unique celebration brought plenty of laughter and excitement to campus as students gathered to watch the fun-filled event, which school supporters described as a memorable incentive for reading achievement.

The goats for the activity were provided by Jenna Bamburg, along with support from her family and friends. Organizers said the animals were extremely well-behaved throughout the event and quickly became a favorite attraction for students.

North DeSoto 4-H members also played a role in helping with the activity, showcasing their willingness to assist with animal-related experiences and hands-on learning opportunities.

School supporters praised the students for reaching their AR goals and applauded school administrators for creating a creative and engaging reward system that encouraged literacy and student participation.

“Kiddos are always up for some animal experiences and always willing to lend a hand no matter how crazy,” organizers shared following the celebration.

The event highlighted both the importance of reading achievement and the strong community support surrounding North DeSoto Upper Elementary and its students.

Officials also thanked Jenna Bamburg, her family, and participating 4-H students for helping make the celebration possible.
