STONEWALL, LA – A citizen’s call to 911 Monday evening led to the discovery of two injured victims and the arrest of a Stonewall man following an apparent domestic violence incident.
At approximately 5:15 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026, DeSoto Parish 911 Dispatchers received a report from a concerned citizen regarding a white male walking along Hilltop Road in Stonewall who appeared to be bleeding from the head.
DeSoto EMS personnel were the first to arrive on scene and made contact with the individual, who was later identified as Benny Brinkley, a 71-year-old white male of Stonewall. Brinkley initially refused medical treatment, at which time DeSoto EMS notified DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies of the situation.
After responding to the scene, deputies identified Mr. Brinkley and, based on the circumstances surrounding the call, made the decision to conduct a welfare check at his nearby residence on Hilltop Road. During that welfare check, deputies discovered two adult female family members who had suffered stab wounds during an apparent domestic dispute. One victim was treated at the scene and released. The second victim was transported to Ochsner LSU Health for treatment and has also since been released.
As the investigation progressed, investigators determined that Mr. Brinkley was the aggressor in the domestic dispute that occurred inside the residence. Brinkley was transported to Ochsner LSU Health for treatment of his injuries, and a warrant was subsequently issued charging him with Felony Aggravated Second Degree Battery. Brinkley remains in custody while receiving medical treatment and is expected to be transferred to the DeSoto Detention Center upon his release from the hospital.
