The DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday afternoon in Stonewall.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received a 911 call at approximately 12:11 p.m. reporting an altercation involving two individuals with firearms at 1137 Highway 171.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found one individual suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach. The victim was transported to LSU Ochsner Hospital in Shreveport and was reported to be awake, alert, and responsive at the time of transport.

The suspected shooter was taken into custody at the scene without incident, according to authorities.

The DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office said the identities of those involved are not being released at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
