
STONEWALL — The DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office has released new details regarding the shooting that occurred Sunday in Stonewall.
According to investigators, a verbal altercation outside the Shell gas station in Stonewall escalated into a physical altercation inside the business.
During the incident, Derobieyae Atkins, 24, of Keithville, suffered a single gunshot wound to the torso. Atkins was transported to LSU Ochsner Hospital in Shreveport and is currently reported to be in stable condition.
The Sheriff’s Office said the investigation identified Tyler Douglas, 20, of Stonewall, as the alleged shooter. Douglas was taken into custody without incident and booked into the DeSoto Parish Detention Center on a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm. Authorities said additional charges are pending the completion of the investigation.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. The DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office said no additional information will be released until the investigation has been completed.
