The DeSoto Parish community is continuing to rally around 17-year-old Kaine Christian as he recovers from a traumatic brain injury suffered in an ATV accident in late June.
According to the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office, Kaine continues to make encouraging progress and is preparing to enter the next phase of his recovery. However, officials said he still faces a long road ahead.
To help Kaine and his family with expenses associated with his recovery, Sheriff Jayson Richardson and the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office have donated a custom-built LSU Tigers fire pit to be raffled as a fundraiser.
Proceeds from the raffle will go directly to an account established for Kaine’s family to help with ongoing expenses, including medical care, rehabilitation, travel and lodging.
Raffle tickets are $25 each, with the drawing scheduled for Friday, Aug. 28, 2026. The winner will be announced on the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
The Sheriff’s Office encouraged community members who are able to purchase a ticket and share information about the fundraiser with others.
Officials also asked the community to continue supporting Kaine, his family and those involved in his care as he continues his recovery.
