A Festive Afternoon

By Nicole Tull

Sunday afternoon boasted beautiful weather for area churches to host their festive events. Living Word Church in Stonewall had their parking lot full of games. The church’s Dream Team volunteers were happily directing children to wait for their turn to knock a pumpkin off a post, race on the bounce house or toss a ring. Prizes included little stuffed animals and candy.

The cake walk had some tasty looking confections on the table where the folks walked around to the music playing. Hot dogs, chips, popcorn, and drink were available to all that visited the campus. There were even tables and chairs set up like a little café where parents and tired children rested and ate their goodies. If you didn’t want to play for candy, you could just get a cup filled with various treats.

Grand Cane Baptist church also hosted a Trunk or Treat. Cars lined the parking spaces decorated in fun themes. Whole families were adorned in costumes fitting a theme: some for the cars, others just for fun. Children of all ages could trick or treat the cars and then play games on the opposite side of the thoroughfare.

Hot dogs, popcorn, sno-cones, and drinks were available at the family life center. A bounce house kept many children busy while others enjoyed the autumn weather on the hayride. Those wanting to test their artistic skills could paint a mini pumpkin to take home.  There was much fun to be had by children and adults alike across the parish.
