Excessive Heat Warning

The warning was issued July 20 at 3:07AM CDT until July 20 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Shreveport LA

Dangerously hot conditions with high temperatures between 100 and 105 degrees and heat index values up to 114. All of north central and northwest Louisiana, south- central and southwest Arkansas, southeast Oklahoma, and northeast Texas. Warning is valid until 7:00 pm Wednesday.

The weather service said extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.

There is also a hazardous weather outlook for our region:

Today and tonight.

Hot and humid conditions are once again anticipated today. Widespread heat index values above 110 degrees this afternoon have prompted an Excessive Heat Warning that will remain in effect until 7 PM tonight. Additionally, portions of the region are highlighted under a marginal risk for severe weather. Given high instability values, any storms that do become strong to severe will be capable of damaging winds.

Thursday through Tuesday.

Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible again Thursday afternoon. Given higher instability and lapse rates, any storm that does become strong to severe will be capable of producing damaging winds and small hail. Dangerously hot conditions will

continue across the area this week, and into next. Heat headlines will likely be needed for most of the workweek.
